假如变化的字段类型为日期时间型，我要判断日期中的年份是否发生了变化，怎么写程序

我写了   If e.Newvalue.year <> e.OldValue.year then
有时能够执行，有时显示string字段没有year属性，怎么回事

我写了 If e.Newvalue.Substring(0,4) <> e.OldValue.Substring(0,4)  then
有时候也能运行，有时候显示 未找到类型“Date”的公共成员“Substring”

e.NewValue 字段类型 到底应该是什么？
